Shanti Stupa

The Shanti Stupa is an iconic,white-coloured domed-shaped structure, located in Chandspa which looks extremely beautiful during the night when it is illuminated. This peace pillar was built by Japanese Buddhist organization to celebrate the completion of 2500 years of Buddhism and for the promotion of world peace. It was inaugurated by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama in 1985. This pillar is known for its gilt panels depicting the life stories of Lord Buddha. It is just 4.5 km away from Hotel Shambhala, Ladakh, and is surrounded the traditionally built houses of the locals and snow-covered mountains.

Thikse Monastery

Thikse Gompa is around 19 kilometres to the East of Hotel Shambhala, Ladakh. The architecture of the largest monastery in the central region of Ladakh, is similar to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. This 12-storey building complex consists of a number of things related to Buddhist art such as Thangka paintings, statues, stupas, swords, and so on. The building also has a nunnery. A major tourist attraction is the Maitreya temple installed in 1970. The statue of future Lord Buddha in this temple of 49 feet high, which is also the largest in the region.

Tso Moriri Lake

Situated at a height of 15,000 ft. Tso Moriri Lake is a freshwater lake. The journey from Leh to Tso Moriri is magnificent offering a sudden change in the landscape from rough and rugged to lush green full of vegetation. There is also a hot spring on the trail to Tso Moriri. Guest houses are available near the lake. 200 kilometres away from Hotel Shambhala, Ladakh, Tso Moriri is an iconic lake to do night photography.


Pangong Lake

Pangong Tso, Tibetan for "high grassland lake", also referred to as Pangong Lake, is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 meters. It is 134 kilometers long and extends from India to China. 226 kilometers away from Hotel Shambhala, Ladakh, this lake has been a center of attraction for many of our guests.

General Zorawar Fort

Inside the monastery, a copper gilded statue of Lord Buddha can be seen along with various stupas that are said to be made of precious metal like gold and silver. Some 3 km away, on the side of the mountain above the monastery is a sacred heritage site. There is also a museum in the premises of the monastery, where several ancient religious and historical paintings (Thangkas), weapons, carriers, and even a stuffed vulture pup is exhibited.
